Alternative Fuels Transition Program

Value: $80 M+
Location: Worldwide
Type: Brownfield

  • A major sustainability initiative, spanning multiple continents to audit, design, and retrofit/upgrade a hyperscale data center fleet’s backup power generation from traditional diesel fuels to alternative, sustainable fuels. The effort involved assessing compliance requirements in multiple countries, evaluating and designing modifications to existing electrical systems and backup generators, and procuring and installing components to convert site backup generators and fuel tank systems to operate on alternative fuels.

Recycling Center

Value: $4 M+
Location: Chicago, IL
Type: Brownfield

  • The project consists of the design and construction of a 12,000 GSF+ annex attached to an existing operational Mission Critical facility. The project scope is developed as part of a long-term disposition strategy with an objective to optimize cloud asset dispositioning, increase regulatory compliance, lead environmental sustainability, and maximize revenue generation.

Liquid Immersion Project

Capacity: 1MW+
Value: $12 M+
Location: Chicago, IL
Type: FOK Technology Pilot

  • A first-of-kind liquid immersion pilot deployed in an operational data center in Chicago, which included an initial deployment of 10 x 34 kW liquid immersion tanks, which would be followed by a final deployment of 30 x 34 kW tanks. The tanks functionality for the project required revisions to the electrical system, looping in the chilled water system to a Tier II IDF network, installation of a hot aisle containment (HAC) system to support electrical, mechanical, telecom modules, spill protection assemblies, as well as steel gantry supports for the cooling system. The project goal was to transition from a current conventional cooling system to liquid immersion cooling, proving the viability and scalability of this technology.
